Zakharova referred to question of Armenia freezing its de facto membership in CSTO
Today, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, held a weekly briefing, during which she answered the question about freezing Armenia's de facto CSTO membership.
"We have already commented on the freezing, let me remind you only one thing, because everything has already been said earlier.
We have invited our Armenian allies to hold inter-departmental consultations in order to discuss the issues and dispel their concerns, but there is still no response.
As for EAEU, it is an international organization, economic integration, problems are solved here aimed at the sustainable development of economies, improvement of citizens' well-being, political issues are not discussed on this platform.
We have repeatedly noted that the relations between the Union countries are built on a mutually beneficial, equal basis, taking into account the interests of all member states.
Zakharova also added that this cooperation certainly leads to good results, including for Armenia, which in the last few years has become a leader within the Union in such indicators as GDP growth rate, investments in fixed assets, etc.
"I would also like to remind you that this year Armenia holds the presidency of the EAEU bodies, and we continue to work together to implement all the tasks set, including for the benefit of Armenia's presidency and the priorities shared by Russia and Armenia," said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
