India doubled its contingent on the border with China
WorldIndia has allocated an additional unit of ten thousand soldiers to protect the border with China, thus more than doubling the contingent of military personnel serving at this site. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources among senior Indian officials.
According to the sources, a unit of ten thousand soldiers, which previously served on the country's western border, has now been sent to strengthen a section of the disputed border with China.
In addition, a contingent of nine thousand soldiers already on India's border with China will be placed under a newly created combat command. Both units of the armed forces will guard a 532-kilometre stretch of the border.
Representatives of the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Ministry of Defence did not comment on the situation.
