Greek teachers don army uniforms at protest rally
Աշխարհ
Hundreds of Greek teachers in army uniform marched in downtown Athens on Monday in protest against the government-declared civilian mobilization. Tuesday will see a 24-hour strike of civil servants in Greece in solidarity with the teachers.
The teachers' union on May 10 decided to go on strike during school exams, demanding the government reverse a decision to increase academic hours.
However, the cabinet said it would not allow disruption of examinations, on the results of which school graduates are admitted to institutions of higher education. Thus, it announced the mobilization of 86,000 teachers. Those who fail to comply with the order and don’t show up for work will face a fine and imprisonment.
