The General Director and Artistic Director of the Royal Opera House Muscat, Umberto Fanni, has been awarded the Medal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia for his contribution to music, the strengthening of international cultural cooperation, and within the framework of the 20th anniversary of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. The award was presented to him by Minister Zhanna Andreasyan.
A highly respected cultural leader in the field of global performing arts, Fanni has been a key partner of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra for many years. Through his initiative and support, concerts held at the Royal Opera House Muscat have presented Armenian musical art on world-class stages, while also fostering the development of cultural ties between Armenia and Oman. Under Fanni’s leadership, the Royal Opera House Muscat has become a globally significant cultural institution, bringing together leading artistic forces and international cultural programs.
His professional career also includes leadership roles in major European cultural institutions such as the Arena di Verona and Teatro Lirico “Giuseppe Verdi,” as well as long-standing academic activity at the Catholic University of Milan. In recognition of his contribution to international cultural cooperation, Umberto Fanni was also awarded an Omani order in 2024, further reaffirming his exceptional role in global cultural diplomacy.
