The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has called on Syrian rebels to stop atrocities, the latest evidence of which has stirred the Internet community, TASS reports.
A statement by Navanethem Pillay was circulated on Tuesday in connection with the appearance of a web video, demonstrating how a commander of one of the units of the rebels carves into the body of a government soldier and cuts out his heart and liver.
"The dismemberment and desecration of the bodies of victims in a conflict is a war crime," - said the chief UN human rights activist, recognizing the atrocity of the act shown in the video.
"I call on the Syrian armed groups to do everything possible to stop such heinous crimes," - said Pillay.
