New odyssey of gas in 90 days

Yesterday it became known, that Armenia’s major natural gas supplier, Hayrusgazard, (ArmRosgasprom) and the Transgas company asked the Public Services Regulatory Commission to consider a proposal for raising the natural gas prices.

They have proposed a formula for the consumers who use monthly up to 10,000 cubic meters of natural gas, and elaborated new service delivery terms, says a statement on the Hayrusgazard website.

The companies calculations’ suggest that the monthly per cubic meter tariffs for the above consumers has to rise from 132,000 Drams ($317) to 221,000 ($532) Drams (including the value added tax).

In a talk with Lurer.com mariam Stepanyan from RA Public Services Regulatory Commission said that the procedure suggested the study of the application within 90 days. "That does not mean the 90th day of the 3rd day, when the committee will be ready, we will have our evaluation and conclusion, we will talk the", Stepanian said.

Note that, for a long time there were discussions on the increase in gas prices, gas prices are expected to rise up before the presidential elections, but there were opinions that the authorities would do everything to avoid that price increase, and the price will change only after the elections.

A few months ago, according to the newspaper "Zhamanak", Russia's delayed the increase of gas price due to Russian Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan.

"We learned that he had gained large tenders in the construction sphere in Russia for several years, and suggested the Russian side economical conditions. That is, Karapetyan minimized his own profit, and instead suggested RF government to agree about economical price of gas", the newspaper wrote.
