A hotel animator at one of Greece’s popular Crete resorts has stabbed a Russian boy, local media report.
The 11-year-old was found lying in a “pool of blood” on Thursday night at a Crete hotel in the northern Anissaras area, where he was staying together with his parents. He had 20 stab wounds and was urgently flown to an Athens clinic.
The child is said to be in critical condition. He was purportedly attacked by a 20-year-old seasonal employee from the Netherlands. According to preliminary data, the victim could have been a theft witness.
The boy reportedly told his parents he had lost his laptop and cell phone and went out to look for them. His parents were alarmed when the 11-year-old didn’t come back and alerted the police, who found the child unconscious in the hotel parking lot. The boy was stabbed in the back, chest and hands and lying in a pool of blood.
Doctors say there is no internal bleeding or life-threatening damage to internal organs, although a computed tomography scan will be carried out to confirm this.
Police also found the missing cell phone and laptop in possession of the suspected Dutch entertainer, who later confessed of having attacked the child. He said he had brought the boy to the parking lot and stabbed him multiple times, washed blood off the knife and hid it in a fire hose before returning to the hotel.
