“Multiple fatalities” are reported from North Texas, hit by a tornado yesterday, the Washington Times has reported quoting AP.
According to officials, the tornado ripped through some neighborhoods of the city of Granbury, located on the Brazos River, at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Hood County sheriff’s Lt. Kathy Jiveden told about multiple fatalities it caused, but did not give details of dead or injured. A number of homes were demolished. Crews continue looking for those trapped, injured or dead, she noted.
The hardest hit area was the Rancho Brazos subdivision and adjoining areas along Lake Granbury, according to the local police.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado in Granbury resulted from a system of thunderstorms; they also warned of other tornadoes possible in the region until Thursday morning.
