Syrian militants execute 11 Assad troops hostages

Al-Qaeda affiliated Syrian Islamists have executed eleven soldiers of President Bashar Assad’s army, media report.

The video of the massacre has been uploaded to the Internet. It shows a man in a black balaclava shoot the men in the back of the head one after another as the hostages kneel blindfolded. Each deadly shot is accompanied by an “Alllah akbar!” cheer, meaning “God is great.”

The footage is the freshest in a series of videos published online by Islamist rebels. It follows a similar massacre of three army troops who have been recently captured and killed in the war-torn Syria.

According to the London-based Observatory for Human Rights, a pro-rebel organization, at least 94,000 people have been tortured and murdered in Syria since the beginning of the conflict.
