Last night Atlético produced for their God after a fourteen-year drought in the Madrid derbies, fourteen years of woe and disappointment. Last night 'Los Colchoneros' were true to their legend, an unpredictable yet dignified team. The cup deservedly belongs in their hands, and without knowing if this triumph will lead to a new era for Atlético one thing is sure: José Mourinho's tenure at Real Madrid has come to an end.

It was a great and emotional spectacle, and the joy for Atlético and their fans was enough to put pay to Madrid domination, a Madrid side that will now be drying their tears and licking their wounds.
