The Head of the Azerbaijan Liberal Party Lala Shovkat made a statement condemning the bill on criminal persecution for denying the Armenian genocide adopted on the eve by the French Senate. She called it "falsification of history" and "loss of confidence by Paris", and condemned the official Baku for "inadequate response" to what is happening.
The Azerbaijani authorities have forgotten their own slogan "one nation - two states", which characterizes the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations, said Shovkat. She noted that the law adopted by the French Senate is directed not only against Turkey, but Azerbaijan. Shovkat reminded that in 2009 at the request of Azerbaijan, Turkey not to open borders with Turkey.
She called on Baku to reconsider relations with France. Shovkat also called the cavaliers of the Order "Legion d'Honneur" of France, namely, President Ilham Aliyev, his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva and other citizens of Azerbaijan, to refuse this order as a sign of protest against the unjust decision of the French Senate.
