Lavrov: "Any dividing lines in Europe will prove harmful."
Russia
Any dividing lines in Europe will prove harmful, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, told the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, during their meeting in the Russian Black Sea resort Sochi this Monday.
The fact that the Council of Europe is consistently ensuring the unity of Community Law in Europe is a great accomplishment, Lavrov said.
According to the Russian Foreign Minister, he and Mr. Jagland will specifically take up the Russian proposals for reforming the Council of Europe.
The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out earlier that Moscow is generally in favour of Mr. Jagland’s principled stand on reforming the Strasbourg-based organization, the stand that is close to Russia’s vision of a future Council of Europe.
