More than 100 dead in Iraqi attacks

On May 20th a wave of terrorist attacks took place across Iraq with local media calling the date bloody Monday. As a result of dozens of bombings and armed attacks more than 100 people were killed.
In Baghdad nine car bombs were set off, killing about 50 people and injuring more than 200. The bombings took place in neighborhoods populated predominantly by Shiites.
Extremists conducted dozens of attacks against ministers and government officials.
In recent weeks, Iraq, has seen a wave of violence that increasingly threatens to escalate into a bloody inter-religious conflict.
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said he would seriously reconsider the security strategy of the government.
