Russia's Pacific Fleet celebrates 282nd anniversary

Jubilee events in honor of the anniversary took place in Vladivostok, the home port of the Russian Pacific Fleet, on Tuesday, Interfax reports.

The celebration which began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national and St.Andrew’s flags on Pacific Fleet ships will be followed by a jubilee concert at the Vladivostok Officers’ Club.

In another jubilee event, scores of yawls participated in Pacific Commander’s Cup in the Amur Bay. Russian Pacific Fleet ships have led a large number of successful anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden. Eight groups of Pacific Fleet ships have taken part in the operations over the past few months.

A group of Pacific Fleet ships that have been engaged in guaranteeing the safety of navigation in the northwestern part of the Indian Ocean returned to Vladivostok at the end of April.
