Lavrov's statement, rise of gas price- messages to Armenia
Political
"The pressure on Armenia by Russia is increasing day by day. Rise of gas price, the statement of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's statement are evidence of it. Everything is interconnected with each other and pursues a specific objective. In this regard it may be noted the same "Eurovision", in which Armenia received only 2 points from Russia. All this is clearly interconnected and has a political subtext", in a talk with Lurer.com an expert on Azerbaijan issues Sargis Asatryan said, commenting on yesterday's joint press conference of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia in Moscow.
"I think that Russia tries to persuade Armenia to enter the Eurasian Union. Armenian authorities are aware that people will see this controversial decision, but it should be noted that all of this is a specific program, which aims to put pressure on Armenia and eventually force it to enter the EU", Sargis Asatryan said.
The expert noted with regret that the political figures, representatives of both the government and the opposition, independent of Russia and do not want to disturb Moscow.
"Russia quite good uses gas not only against us, but against Ukraine, Europe. Once Russia wants to get some dividends, immediately uses a powerful lever as gas. Now, in fact, it turns out that Russia wants to orient Armenia. Meeting with Mammadyarov, such statements are intended that Armenia not even thinks to take the path of European integration and forgets about NATO and the European Union."
Recall, in response to Mammadyarov's statement Sergei Lavrov said that the status quo is unacceptable both for Armenia and Karabakh, as well as Russia, which is extremely important for security and stability in Caucasus.
