Merkel tops Forbes 'powerful women' list

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has once again topped Forbes magazine's list of the world's 100 most powerful women for the third consecutive year. She is followed by Brazil's Dilma Rousseff.

They were followed by Melinda Gates - who co-chairs the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation with her billionaire philanthropist husband - US First Lady Michelle Obama, and former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

The German Chancellor tops the list of most influential women for the seventh time.

In the sphere of entertainment and showbiz, among those who made it to the list are actress Angelina Jolie, singers Shakira and Lady Gaga.
