St. Pertersburg marks 310th birthday

St. Petersburg begins to celebrate its 310th birthday with numerous art festivals today.

Most events will take place in the open, so as to give everyone an opportunity to participate. The festivities will last for three days.
Formal ceremonies will be held on the 27th of May, the day when the city was founded. The programme will include a bright show in Nevsky Prospect, the main street of St. Petersburg, a concert of army bands and of a 4,000-strong choir, as well as a concert of classical and jazz music in Palace Square.
