Diego López: “My plan is to stay here next season”
Sport
Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego López refused to confirm or deny that he might be considering a move to another club next season and explained that he still has a number of years left to run on his current contract and that he feels competition for a place is the team is healthy.
“It’s very difficult to feel sad when you are playing for a club like Real Madrid,” the keeper said after Sunday’s 3-3 draw at Real Sociedad. “All I am concerned about is playing. Tonight I was given another opportunity and I made the most of it, like I have always tried to do. “Competition for a place in the side is good for everyone and I think the goalkeeper’s position should be open to changes just as the outfield positions are. I feel relaxed and I am trying to do the best I can. I have worked very hard to get my chance, as I always have”.
Regarding the match itself, he continued, “Real Sociedad played some really nice football. They deserved to take a point from the game. They have variety in attack and they have the hunger to want to play in the Champions League. They gave us a tough time tonight”.
