U.S. F-15 jet crashes in Pacific off Japan's Okinawa

A U.S. F-15 jet crashed off Japan's Okinawa prefecture Tuesday morning, Xinhua news agency reported citing a local media report.
Japan's 11th Region Coast Guard Headquarters said it was informed by the U.S. Forces in Japan at 9 a.m. local time that an F-15 jet had crashed 100 km east off Okinawa, Japan's Kyodo News said.
The pilot has managed to escape, the report said.
Japan has dispatched a patrol aircraft and vessels to the accident site. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga also Japan has been informed about the incident and is gathering information. The crashed fighter along with three other F-15s was their way to participate in training above Okinawa from the U.S. Kadena airbase in the prefecture.
A U.S. F-15 fighter crashed in 2006 with the pilot escaping from the plane.
