On May 27 the Mayor of Gyumri Samvel Balasanyan met with the U.S. ambassador John Heffern. Samvel Balasanyan presented recent activities in the city, particularly dwelling on the preparations for the launch of the program Gyumri Cultural Capital of CIS 2012. Fundraising for renovation of the old theater, as well as other issues were discussed. The ambassador shared his ideas with the mayor.

On the same day the Mayor of Gyumri and the ambassador of the United States visited the photo exhibition “Following Tracks of Armenian Orphans” at Trchunyan Home of Children in Gyumri.
