David Beckham has been told he can be as great a football club owner as he was a player.

Beckham, 38, has been strongly linked with a new MLS franchise in Miami.

The former England captain spent five years in the USA with LA Galaxy and remains a huge star in the States.

MLS chief Don Garber would love him to return and said: “David Beckham really helped to put this league on the map and really believed in the MLS.

“David has spent some time looking in Miami and we have been looking at the market there as well.

We still don’t have teams south of Washington DC and that represents 70 to 80 million people, which is bigger than the UK.

“We have got to figure that out, we have got to do it at the right time with the right facility plan.

“It’d be great to have David involved. I can’t say it enough. Everything we asked David to do, off the field, he did.
