Libya's National Congress chairman resigns
Middle East
Libya’s General National Congress Chairman Mohammed Yousuf Magariaf has announced his resignation.
He motivated his decision by the May 5 law banning former Gaddafi officials from holding public offices.
The law designed for a ten-year period is slated to come into force early next month and will affect all how served under the former regime, including Magariaf, who was Libya’s ambassador to India in the 1980s.
