Attack on Red Cross in eastern Afghanistan

Insurgents attacked the International Committee of the Red Cross in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad on Wednesday, killing an Afghan guard in the second major assault on a humanitarian organization in less than a week.
A suicide attacker first detonated himself at the gate of the ICRC compound. Then more than three attackers infiltrated the office.
According to other reports, the attackers threw a grenade at the entrance.
In the shootout, which lasted two hours, at least six militants were killed, said police. The houses situated nearby were damaged in the firefight, the ICRC office caught fire.
