Today is International Children's Day
Society
Children's Day is recognized on various days in many places around the world, to honor children globally. It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 and then established universally in 1954 to protect children working long hours in dangerous circumstances and allow all children access to an education. The UN General Assembly recommended that all countries should establish a Universal Children's Day on an "appropriate" day.
The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland, proclaimed June 1 to be International Children's Day in 1925. It is usually marked with speeches on children's rights and wellbeing, and other events involving or dedicated to children.
International Children’s Day is the day of mobilization of social opinion for child protection, observance of rights of children for life, education and leisure, for protection from physical and psychological violence, exploitation of child labor, as necessary conditions for construction of humane and fair society.
