Chief of Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan, Lieutenant General Martin Karapetyan presented the Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan his letter of resignation. In a conversation with Lurer.com Defense Minister spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan said.
"He submitted his own resignation statement. But since an investigation is undergoing, the application of the Chief will not be considered", he noted.
Recall that in the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan in Yerevan during an argument one of the students was shot and killed. The incident occurred on June 1. The student Armen Melkumian fired in the direction of his fellow student Sipan Movsisyan.
The injured was taken to "Grigor the Illuminator" medical centre with a penetrating, gunshot wound to the right side of the chest. Doctors failed to save the life of the cadet.
A criminal case on the first part of Article 104 (murder) of the Criminal Code of Armenia has been initiated in the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, urgent investigative actions have been held, a forensic examination has been assigned.
According to the preliminary data of the investigation, the cause of the incident was a quarrel, during which students exchanged insults, and shots were fired in response to one of these offensive remarks. Armen Melkumian has been arrested, the investigation continues.
