A 4.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Athens early on Tuesday, the National Observatory said, with no injuries or damage immediately reported.
The quake occurred at 4:56 am (0156 GMT), some 22 kilometres (14 miles) east of the capital, the observatory said.
News reports placed the epicentre near the rural town of Pikermi.
Greece is Europe's most seismically active country and experiences frequent earthquakes, accounting for half of the continent's recorded quakes.
