Sharon Jones says she has bile duct cancer

U.S. singer Sharon Jones says she is undergoing treatment for bile duct cancer, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The 57-year-old leader of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings has canceled her upcoming promotional duties and postponed the release date of the soul and funk band's latest album, which was initially set to go on sale in August.

"We caught it really early and fast and the doctors say it's operable and curable," Jones wrote of her illness in a message on her website. "I will be having surgery very soon and will have to rest and recover."
