Flood forces to evacuate 10,000 in Germany

About 10,000 residents in the German city of Bitterfeld in the district of Saxony-Anhalt are preparing for evacuation due to possible floods.
According to a local official Bernhard Boeddeker, the decision was taken because Lake Gottschee located near the city might overflow the banks and completely flood the settlement.
Boeddeker said that this would be a preventive measure because it is unclear how the situation will develop. He assured that a large chemical facility near Bitterfeld is out of danger, and its approach area had been reinforced by sandbags.
At present, the Interior Ministry has reported about three deaths, a firefighter and two civilians.
Power cut has been started in Dresden on Elba.
According to Prime Minister of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich, 30 million euros will be allocated to those who have suffered from floods in Saxony. Distributing payments will be started on Thursday.
