Policemen beat the detainee

Special Investigation Service of Armenia initiated a criminal investigation into the use of force by the police, abuse of power and bribery.

As the press service of the SIS repotred, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 309 and Part 1 of Article 311 of the Criminal Code. The case concerns the employees of Bazum Police of Lori region.

On May 29 this year SIS received a report from the Ombudsman's office that they got a signal from the prisoner of "Vanadzor" penitentiary, according to which the policemen of the mentioned department said applied force against him. During the preparation of the materials on May 31 prisoner gave written statements according to which on March 16 in a quarrel with the former mother-in-law underwent drive to the police station. Assistant on duty beat him, trying to get a confession, as well as demanded  100 liters of gasoline for his release. The investigation is ongoing.
