Russia to continue to supply weapons to Syria – Lavrov.

Russian weapons will continue to be supplied to the Syrian government, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.
Russian weapons were not used against protestors and don’t deepen the crisis in the Middle Eastern state, according to Lavrov.
“We signed the contracts and they are to be implemented,” he told Australian TV station ABC, Interfax reported.

The West has been calling for sanctions against the current regime headed by Bashar al-Assad, which they say is necessary to stop violence in Syria. Last year, a resolution on the country was submitted to the UN Security Council and backed by the US, the UK and France but vetoed by Russia and China.
