Moscow police Tuesday detained ex-cabinet minister and opposition leader Boris Nemtsov as the opposition staged a new protest in the Russian capital against the outcome of elections.
"Ten anti-riot police in helmets detained him," Olga Shorina, spokeswoman for the Solidarnost (Solidarity) opposition movement, told AFP. Hundreds of opposition supporters turned out for the protest in central Moscow but were vastly outnumbered by members of pro-Kremlin youth groups who also appeared.
