A lawmaker of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Harutyun Pambukyan, returned to Armenia yesterday but he is not going to run for the May parliamentary election, the paper has learned.
A reporter of Hraparak yesterday attempted to inquire of the reason from the businessman lawmaker personally. Pambukyan reportedly said he had absolutely no problems with the ruling authorities. Asked why he wanted to quit the politics after his active involvement in political processes (Pambukyan was the chief of former Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan’s pre-election campaign headquarters during the 2009 municipal polls), he said only that politics no longer attracts him.
The paper says further that Pambukyan is known to have moved part of his business from Armenia. But to the question whether that could be the reason behind his decision he gave a negative answer, according to the paper.
