Ukraine’s far-right activists leave Kiev hotel after clash

Members of Ukrainian far-right movement Right Sector have left hotel Dnipro in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev on Tuesday. According to eyewitnesses, several dozen of activists armed with automatic assault rifles were staying in the hotel building, Kiev police told ITAR-TASS.

Radical activists took bags from the hotel, put them in a truck and went to a countryside holiday home. According to Ukrainian media, law enforcers have been negotiating with Right Sector activists for the latter to lay down arms overnight to Tuesday. It is unclear yet how talks ended. An unofficial headquarters of far-right organization Right Sector is located at hotel Dnipro.

On Monday evening, a conflict flared up between Right Sector activists and Ukraine’s protesting Maidan self-defense forces in Khreshchatyk Street. According to police, three people were wounded in the shootout. Two of them are from Kiev and Kiev Region, another one is from the Russian Republic of Crimea. They have got heavy wounds of shin, breast and low back. First deputy chairman of Kiev city authorities Bogdan Dubas who allegedly turned out at the incident site accidentally was wounded. The state official was given medical aid and was permitted to go home. Other two wounded people were taken to hospital.

Police have detained the shooter. “The shooter was drunk,” Interior Minister appointed by Ukraine’s parliament Verkhovna Rada Arsen Avakov said.
