Mesmerizing pictures of cave formations reveal a hole new world beneath our feet from New Mexico to Vietnam

These stunning images show the weird and wonderful formations hidden deep inside caves from around the world.

The incredible pictures show the natural stalagmites and stalactites within some of the world's deepest caves, taken by keen caver Dave Bunnell, 61, from Delaware.

Mr Bunnell has captured breathtaking cave formations on camera in the Lechuguilla Cave, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico - which is the deepest in the continental U.S. as well as the Rio Secreto cave in Costa Rica, and Tien Duoung cave, Vietnam.

He said: 'Caving is such a different world that it sometimes seems like being on another planet. It is a surprise and I never know what amazing formation may lay around the next corner.

'Photographically I love that you have almost complete control over the lighting of a scene and can illuminate the cave to make the formations look even more incredible.'

Thrill-seeker Dave has caved in more than eighteen countries around the world including Australia, China, Laos and Papua New Guinea and has taken stunning photographs everywhere he has caved, showing the formations hidden beneath the ground.
