A rally commemorating the 20th anniversary of Khojaly events was held Sunday in Taksim square, Istanbul. Turkish media outlets report anti-Armenian slogans could be heard during the rally, “gray wolves” were glorified while Armenians were dishonored.
Ensonhaber news site said Armenians were cursed and offended during the protest action.
“The piquet has become an event glorifying those who target Armenians and who organized Dink’s assassination,” the daily writes.
Turkey Minister of Interior Affairs Idris Naim Shahin has also attended the rally and declared that “Blood scattered in Khojaly won’t be left unpunished.”
As ANS reported, Mathew Briza, former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, also attended the demonstrations.
To note, the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), sharply criticizing the government sanctioned anti-Armenian demonstrations held throughout Turkey today, called on U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone to forcefully condemn this latest attempt by Ankara to foment hatred and violence against Armenians.
