English Manchester City will be severely punished by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for violations of financial fair play, British media says.
Losses for the club during 2011/12 and 2012/13 amounted to 149 million pounds ($249 million). Tthere is time until Wednesday to convince UEFA that the club plays by the rules. Otherwise, the club may face sanctions, a serious fine or ban on the acquisition of players. An exclusion from the Champions League, as noted, is unlikely. A two-day meeting of the UEFA Financial Control will begin on Tuesday in Nyon, Switzerland, where further actions in relation to the organization of clubs who have violated the rules will be discussed.
