Total of 1,500 servicemen take part in VE-Day military parade in Vladivostok

Almost 1,500 servicemen have taken part in the traditional military parade on the occasion of VE-Day in the downtown area of Vladivostok. The march-past columns were made up of units of the Pacific Fleet, the Ministry for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (EMERCOM) and the Interior Ministry, as well as teams of cadets of naval colleges and universities.

The ceremonials units were followed by a display of military technologies the Pacific Fleet has on its tables of equipment. The public on the streets could see more than thirty samples of combat equipment - missile launching complexes, self-propelled artillery mounts, S 300 air defense complexes, chemical reconnaissance vehicles, command-post carriers on the basis of armored personnel carriers, and armored personnel carriers.

Combat vehicles were followed by a column of participants in the all-Russia Immortal Regiment action, which brought together more than 2,000 residents of Vladivostok this year. They carried the photos of their family members and relatives who had fought on the frontline but who had not reached the 69th anniversary since VE-Day.

After the parade, the festivities continued in the city’s park and on the central square, with concerts and the tasting of porridge and tea from field kitchens. Organizers of the event provided 120 kilograms of soldier’s porridge for each field kitchen, which will be enough for everyone who wants to taste it.

All in all, to make the meal ready for the public, the cooks will use 100 kilograms of buckwheat, 100 kg of canned stewed 100 kg, 10 kg of butter, and 20 kg of onions.
After dusk, the city will enjoy fireworks from several spots - the upper pad of the Vladivostok Fortress museum where 30 salvos will be fired, from the Square of Fighters for Soviet Power, on the Russky Island, and in the township of Trudovoye.
