1450 veterans live in Armenia

The youngest veteran – participant of the Great Patriotic War living in Armenia is 88 years old, while the age of the oldest exceeds 100. By April 1, the number of the veterans in Armenia is 1450. We celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory with 3500 veterans. According to the statistics, every month 30-45 veterans die. In 2014, 400 veterans died. The Press Secretary of the Social Security State Service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Aramayis Shahbekyan informed “Armenpress” that the most number of the participants of the Great Patriotic War live in Yerevan - 565, while among the regions the first is Lori, where their number reaches 128, in Gegharkunik - 116, in Chirak – 115, in Kotayk - 104, in Tavush - 105, in Syunik - 97, in Ararat - 85, in Armavir - 65, in Aragatsotn - 42 and in Vayots
Dzor – 28.
There are 50 veteran organizations in Armenia, of which 11 in Yerevan. According to the official data, 600 thousand Armenians participated in the Great Patriotic War not only from Soviet Armenia, but also diaspora, various CIS countries, and 200-250 thousand of them had fallen asheroes.
