Russia, China urge to develop and introduce rules for information security

Russia and China are concerned over use of IT technologies in detriment to state sovereignty and inviolability of private life and urge to develop rules of conduct in the information space, Presidents of Russia and China Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping said in a joint statement after their talks in the Chinese city of Shanghai on Tuesday.

“The sides are concerned over use of IT technologies running counter to tasks of maintaining international stability and security in detriment to state sovereignty and inviolability of private life,” the document runs.

No interference in domestic affairs of other countries“Russia and China have everything so that the international community...will tackle threats to information security and urge to develop universal rules of conduct in information space, adhere firmly to the principles of multifacetedness, democracy and transparency, internationalization of the Internet control system and shape a peaceful, safe and open partnership information environment,” the statement reads.

Russia and China intend to confront interference in domestic affairs of other countries and urge to give up unilateral sanctions, the leaders of the two countries said in the joint statement.

The presidents of Russia and China also called for abandoning funding or encouragement of activity aimed at changing a constitutional system of a foreign country.

“The sides noted the need to respect historical heritage of countries, their cultural traditions and independently chosen public and political system, the system of values and ways of development; counteract interference in domestic affairs of other countries, give up the language of unilateral sanctions, organize aid, fund or encourage activity aimed at changing a constitutional system of a foreign country or its involvement in any multipartite association or union,” the document noted.

“The sides are unanimous in the position that interdependence of countries and peoples, mutual penetration of economies and cultures of different countries is growing steadily in the modern world,” the joint statement runs.The leaders of Russia and China called “to preserve stability of international relations, peace and security at regional and global levels, settle crisis situations and disputes, combat terrorism and trans-border crime and fight spread of mass destruction weapons.”

Attempts at forcible interference in Syria impermissible

Russia and China find any attempts at an external forcible interference in Syria impermissible, Presidents of Russia and China Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping said in a joint statement.

“Russia and China support efforts taken by Syrian government and world community for successful finalizing of the process of destroying Syrian chemical weapons, voice deep concerns over current humanitarian situation in Syria and call for a complex non-discriminatory and depoliticized approach to soonest settlement of humanitarian problems in Syria and Syrian refugees aboard with all norms of international humanitarian law observed,” the document runs.

Russia and China urge parties of Ukrainian conflict to start talks

Russia and China urged all Ukrainian regions and public and political groups to start talks and draft a concept of country’s constitutional development with full observation of human rights, Presidents of Russia and China Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping said in a joint statement adopted upon results of their talks in Shanghai.

“The sides voice serious concerns over continuing domestic political crisis in Ukraine,” the document runs.

Russia and China “urge to de-escalate current conflict in that country, show restraint and seek for peaceful political ways to settle current problems.”

“The sides urged all Ukrainian regions and public and political groups to enter in broad nationwide talks, develop jointly a concept of further constitutional development of the country envisaging full observation of universally recognized rights and freedoms of people,” the statement reads.
