German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said it will take time to stabilise the situation in Ukraine after the presidential elections.
Merkel met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Normandy, France, within the 70th anniversary of the D-Day celebrations on Friday.
“Merkel said Russia should take a responsible position,” the German government spokesman, Steffen Seibert said.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Putin and Merkel were searching for compromises in the Ukrainian settlement.
“Putin and Merkel concentrated their attention to searching for ways to settle the Ukraine crisis,” he said.
