No serious violations registered at Russian polls – Police.

Ria Novosti - Russian police reported on Sunday they had not registered any violations which could affect the results of the country’s presidential elections.
“As for election laws, there have been no serious violations registered by the Russian Interior Ministry which could influence the outcome of the vote at a particular polling station,” First Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoi told journalists in Moscow.
Russia’s largest independent election watchdog Golos said it had received some 5,000 phone calls from members of the public reporting various violations at polling stations across Russia. Those reports cannot be independently verified.
Daniil Duginov, the coordinator of Putin’s election monitoring team, said his office had received almost 1,900 reports of violations, most of them from big cities. He said, however, the the majority of those violations were of a “technical nature” and were promptly dismissed.
He also admitted that his team, in cooperation with the League of Voters movement, had registered one serious violation in northern Moscow, where a group of people were detained for “multiple voting at several polling stations.”
According to preliminary results, Putin is leading the race with about 63.8 of the vote. His closest rival, Communist party leader Gennady Zyuganov, has gained about 17.2 percent of the vote.
Billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, nationalist Liberal Democratic Party head Vladimir Zhirinovsky and A Just Russia party leader Sergei Mironov gained 7.1, 6.9, and 3.7 percent, respectively.
