An open letter to the Foreign Minister of France Mr. Loran Fabious;
copy to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France in the Republic of Armenia H.E. Mr. Henri REYNAUD
H. E. Mr. Minister, Many citizens of the Republic of Armenia are frequently expressing their righteous indignation at the French Consulate arbitrary actions. The violations of working terms, protractions and unnecessary delays by the Consul have become a real scourge for the citizens of Armenia.
There are many cases when people present proper documents, including those associated with formal invitations, but the Consul issues a visa either in time of flight or on a day when the scheduled works of people are being turned down and departure from the country loses its meaning. As a result, many citizens were forced to return the ticket, pay fines; they lose both money and nerves solely because of self-willed attitude of the Consul. Even the friendly and benign attitude of the consular section staff cannot alleviate the rightful rage of citizens, for they are being involved in bureaucratic protraction in an unfair manner, which does not correspond to the image of a country like France. Dear Mr. Minister, please take immediate measures to eliminate the permissiveness at the Consular Section. Visa regime liberalization processes are running in a number of countries while a diametrically opposed process is in progress in Armenia due to the Consul’s efforts. After all, the citizens who dealt with the Embassy once change their attitude toward one of the most important allies and friendly countries of Armenia, France.
The citizens, affected by willful misconduct of the Consul of France to Armenia.
