Bill on revising accreditions of Russian mass media workers submitted to Ukraine's Rada

A bill on "provisional suspension of accreditations of reporters and technical personnel working for certain mass media in Russia" has been submitted to Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, the national parliament.

Russian journalist Igor Kornelyuk and video engineer Anton Voloshin, who had worked for the All-Russia State Television and Radio Company VGTRK, were killed in an artillery attack near Luhansk, eastern Ukraine yesterday, despite wearing ‘TV’ identification symbols on their clothes.

Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has immediately reacted on the news about the death of a Russian journalist in Ukraine. VGTRK correspondent Igor Kornelyuk’s death again showed criminal essence of forces that unfolded punitive operation in Ukraine’s east, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.The two Russian journalists were filming members of self-defense forces as they helped the local population leave the war zone. Later in the day the bodies of the two journalists will be returned to their relatives. Kornelyuk was 37. He was born in Ukraine's Zaporozhye region. He is survived by his wife and a 7-year-old daughter.

“We demand that the Ukrainian authorities conduct an objective investigation of this tragedy and properly punish those guilty,” the ministry said. “We expect global media to resolutely and unambiguously condemn the regular crime of the Ukrainian military.”
