The trial of former Chief of the Police Force Criminal Investigation Department, Police Major General Hovhannes Tamamyan, resumed Tuesday at capital Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork Marash General Jurisdiction Court, but it was adjourned on the same day, photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan informed LURER.com.
When the hearing commenced, it became apparent that defendant Armen Poghosyan’s attorney had not appeared to the trial. Furthermore, Poghosyan refused the services of his legal representative, and asked that Hayk Alumyan be appointed as his new attorney and the hearing be adjourned. The presiding judge noted that this is the defendant’s right, and therefore the Court adjourned until March 14.
Hovhannes Tamamyan is under custody since March 24, 2011, and he is charged with abuse of power, which has caused serious consequences, and he pleads not guilty.
