Russia restricts agro import from Europe

Russia’s veterinary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor on Wednesday reported the introduction of restrictions on agricultural import from Europe. The restrictions will first affect Moldova and Poland. In the future, this measure will also be applied to France, Germany and the Netherlands.
Starting from July 5, Russia restricts the import of pork, beef, lamb meat and horse meat from Moldova. This decision was made due to a violation of the sanitary requirements of the Customs Union by the country. The volume of import of meat products from Moldova to Russia has already declined by 20% in a year to $17 million. Rosselkhoznadzor earlier said that it considered the possibility of imposing a ban on the import of meat from EU countries due to an outbreak of African swine fever.
