Martial law introduced in Ukraine’s Donetsk

Martial law and curfew has been introduced in Donetsk. The press center of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) reported this on Wednesday.
“To avoid incidents and to save the lives and health of civilians, as a measure of law enforcement, the militia’s command introduces martial law and curfew in Donetsk,” says a statement signed by the commander of Donetsk people’s militia Igor Strelkov.
According to the document, the martial law is introduced in several districts of the city of Donetsk, and the limits of these areas will be defined in the course of work. Curfew will be in effect from 23:00 to 06:00 local time.

The situation in Donetsk

Overnight to Wednesday, local shootouts continued and sounds of low-flying airplanes were heard in the city. This says a report published on the website of the city’s mayor and the city council of Donetsk. It says that the operation of the natural gas pipeline that was damaged earlier hasn’t been restored yet. Amid the complicated situation, the Donetsk city council turned to managers of restaurants and asked them to stop using pyrotechnics when running events.
According to the National Guard of Ukraine, militias of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics have started in the morning the offensive on their units in the Donetsk region. The message says tank and mortar strikes have been delivered on the checkpoint of the National Guard of Ukraine located near Marinivka (Donetsk region). The shooting lasted for more than an hour, and the forced of the National Guard repelled the attack. To date, according to the Ukrainian army, the fight continues near the Tarany village. The militiamen are executing an offensive from the side of Saur-Mohila and Stepanivka.
Speaker of the Information Center of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine Andrei Lysenko said that Ukrainian air forces resumed supporting fire in the east of the country.
The militiamen have reported that the military are delivering air strikes on Saur-Mohila in the Donetsk region. “The Ukrainian air forces are currently attacking Saur-Mogila in waves. It is the third wave already. Anti-aircraft guns are shooting at the planes, and MANPADs are applied. Four guided missiles have been fired at the mountain, save from free flight rockets. Tarans are also bombing,” the website Novorossiya reports.
