There are rumors in Armenia’s halls of power, according to which former National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan could return to this post following the upcoming parliamentary elections, 168 Zham daily writes.
“According to these rumors, he will be brought [back] into this office by [the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party] PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan. According to some information, Tsarukyan told his close associates that after the NA elections he is preparing lay down a condition to President Serzh Sargsyan: to return Abrahamyan to the office of NA Speaker in return for supporting his [Sargsyan’s] nomination in the 2013 presidential elections. Especially if the [coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia] RPA wins [in the parliamentary elections] while Abrahamyan is the chief of the winning [campaign] headquarters. According to the same sources, the latter [Abrahamyan], in his turn, is telling those under his influence that he will return to his previous post. Incidentally, the opposite views are in circulation, too, according to which Abrahamyan will not assume any official post still sometime after the parliamentary elections,” 168 Zham writes.
