Remembrance Day of the Dead in Armenia

Today, the Armenian Apostolic Church marks the Remembrance Day of the Dead (Merelots). As reports “Armenpress”, it follows all the major feast days, as well as Christmas, which is celebrated by the Armenian Apostolic Church on January 6.

The Monday after any major feast day is devoted to the memory of those who have passed away. The churches serve the Divine Liturgy and Requiem Mass. People visit the graves of their dead relatives, and get priests to pray over the deceased.
