On Friday Russia introduces a ban on the import of almost all fruit and vegetables from Poland, including apples, pears, cherry, peaches, plums, and cabbage, said an official in Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision).
The ban is imposed in view of breaches by the Polish side of certification requirements as well as discovery of quarantinable biological forms in the imports, Aleksey Alekseyenko, Assistant to the Director of Rosselkhoznadzor, told Itar-Tass. The Federal Service had warned about the possibility of such a ban way back in spring.
