Scuffle in Turkish parliament over education bill.
Turkey
A scuffle broke out between lawmakers in Turkish Parliament on Sunday while debating an education bill that extends the mandatory education program from 8 to 12 years. The Parliament’s Sub-Committee approved the new “4+4+4” bill, which will give students the option of choosing vocational middle schools. Critics say this would put formerly closed schools, such as the Imam Hatip clergy middle schools, back in business, Hurriyet Daily News reports.
